From Athens International Airport via the main port of Piraeus.
All choices of transport to the port can be reached from the same level as
the Arrivals’ door at the airport.
All boats to Agistri depart from Gate 8 at the port of Piraeus. Click
here for the timetables of the various boats.
PLEASE NOTE: BOATS DEPART ON TIME!!
BY TAXI FROM THE AIRPORT TO PIRAEUS
Taxis generally take about an hour to reach Piraeus, dependent on the time
of day. The cost in 2007 averages in the region of 40 € which should
include charges for dropping passengers at the port as well as for luggage
handling. These are set charges, as is the 1.50 € on the metre
when you start your journey. All charges are listed on an official
form in clear sight, usually on the dashboard at the front of the taxi.
It is acceptable in Greece for taxis to be shared and if you do not wish
to, you should indicate this to the driver either at the start of the journey
or if it looks as the taxi will stop and offer trips to additional passengers.
BY BUS FROM THE AIRPORT TO PIRAEUS
The bus (X 96) is an express route to and from the airport to Piraeus and
has the advantage of having its terminal stop right near Gate 8 from which
all the boats to Agistri depart. The journey takes approximately one hour
and a half. Departures
24 hours per day
and are about ten to twenty minutes apart throughout the day, according to
time of day.
The fare for 2007 is 3.20 € per person, although there are family tickets
with good discounts.
BY TRAIN FROM
The brand new metro line (blue line) running from the
airport through to the centre of Athens is a fine example of how Greece has
worked hard to improve its transport system. If you are carrying lightweight
and/or wheeled luggage and have time before you depart for Agistri, you may
consider taking the metro into Monastiraki, take a break with a coffee, overlooked
by the world famous Acropolis.
Change from the metro line at Monastiraki to the suburban line to Piraeus
(green line) and come out at the port for an easy five minute walk to Gate
8. Fares vary widely between group tickets, single, returns and student
fares.
