Skala houses the majority of hotels, apartments and
rooms for tourists to Agistri. Its bustling centre has a large choice
of places to eat, drink, swim and sunbathe.
The sandy coastline wraps itself around the length of Skala from its port to
far beyond the heart of this lively town. Children will relish the sandy
beaches which shelve gently into the sea with no sudden drops in depth.
Parents will experience true relaxation as they bask in the sun and in the knowledge
their little ones can play safely.
All the beaches are served by the nearby cafes with refreshments
throughout the day.
Skala has a unique combination of quiet spots for romantic
or peaceful evenings and busy bars and tavernas for a livelier holiday experience. The
tavernas provide a wealth of choice from fresh, fresh fish to the traditional ‘meze’ menus
for which Greece is so well known. Agistri is famous for its fresh octopus
and visitors can see many tavernas cooking them slowly on the barbeque with
their luscious aroma filling the air.
The bars are filled with friendly staff keen to ensure its customers are
thoroughly spoilt day and night! Learn how to play ‘tavli’ – Greek
backgammon, join in the impromptu nights of singing and Greek dancing which can
happen when you least expect it!
Skala’s port is the arrival point for all ferries from the Athens’ port
of Piraeus to Agistri and is also served by the island’s own Agistri Express
several times a day.
